make it count
About Machteld
“Be free.” “Live a life from which you don’t need a holiday.” “Make the things you do count.” Those are some of the lessons I received from my father. Many years later, these are the lessons I live by and want to pass on to my daughter.
I was born in 1976 and was raised in the countryside of Holland by loving parents. At the age of 19, I moved out. First to Utrecht, pitstop in Cambridge and later to Amsterdam. Amsterdam is the city I love. Because of its authenticity, its openness and the freedom it breathes. After years of city life, I wanted to be surrounded by nature again. And now enjoy living on the lakes in Vinkeveen.
There, I live in a house boat surrounded by a beautiful garden with my life-partner, Hans, and my 6-year old daughter, Indy. Actions speak louder than words. Indy inspires me to practice what I preach. To express myself. Show my depth and my versatility. Be the best version of me.
Live a life from which you don’t need a holiday.
The moment I could hold a pencil, I started drawing, is what my parents told me. I drew everything. From princesses, to birds, to buildings. All came to an abrupt end, at age 19, when I went to University. I put everything on hold.
After more than 20 years of focus on my business career I picked up my other passion again. It felt like coming home. With that difference, that these days I mainly express myself and celebrate my heroes. Visit the Gallery to see me. Leave me your contact details and I will update you on what I am doing, when new work is available in the Store and invite you for exhibitions.
